Don’t be arrogant, new MP told
DATUK Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN - Kinabatanagan) ticked off newly-elected Kuala Terengganu MP Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut for being arrogant after he said the Opposition would “omit” ministers from the Dewan in the next general election.
Abdul Wahid had stood up to respond to Bung Mokhtar’s complaint that the Government should work harder to ensure that the people would get equal development benefits.
“I’ve noticed that not one minister attended the parliamentary sitting since I came to the House for the first time (on Tuesday).
“We have made sure that a deputy minister ‘lost’ in the recent Kuala Terengganu by-election.
“After this, we might omit not only deputy ministers but Cabinet ministers in the next general election,” Abdul Wahid added.
In reply, Bung Mokhtar said Abdul Wahid was “brave” for making this point.
“Everything is decided by Allah. We should not be riak (arrogant). Yang Berhormat has just won and should be grateful to Allah.
“Victories don’t last. They are temporary,” he added.
Bung Mokhtar advised Abdul Wahid to follow the style of his boss, PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, who he said always brought up his points in a calm and civilised manner.
