Moves to mend ties in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: Efforts are underway to mend ties between Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said and certain quarters within the state Barisan Nasional.

Ahmad met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Prime Minister’s office in Putrajaya yesterday.

Ahmad, told mStar online, The Star’s Malay newsportal, that he met Najib and Muhyiddin for almost an hour from 12.30pm.

However, he declined to reveal what was discussed at the meeting. “I have no comments,” he said.

He also said that he did not meet Najib and Muhyiddin with the former mentri besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

Terengganu Speaker Tengku Putera Tengku Awang, who is said to have initiated the meeting in Putrajaya yesterday, said: “We regard it (the political storm) as a trivial matter and hope it will not prolong further.”

He also urged the people not to spread rumours about the issue.

Meanwhile, police have seized several mobile phones to help in their probe.
